Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.
In early July 2018, AutoCAD was overtaken by the free OpenSCAD, a CAD tool for CAD authors and designers. OpenSCAD is a program for creating 3D solid geometry designs based on a library of components. It can be used both as a CAD and CAE application and as a standalone solution.

What Is AutoCAD?
AutoCAD is a suite of tools for architectural and engineering drawing, vector-based graphics, and layout tools. The program has long been used for both technical and architectural drafting, but with the introduction of 3D modeling, AutoCAD is also a commonly used 3D CAD application.
While AutoCAD has seen many updates and is constantly improving, it is still popular because it is relatively easy to learn and use. Additionally, AutoCAD has numerous support options available.
What Is AutoCAD Specialization?
AutoCAD can be used in two ways. The first way is to use the AutoCAD software to create a drawing or 2D object, then use AutoCAD commands to place 2D components on the drawing. For example, to draw a door, you would create a new drawing and place a frame, then you would draw a door using the frame and follow directions for drawing a door.
With AutoCAD it’s also possible to create a component, insert it into a drawing, and move the component within the drawing. For example, you can create a table and then place a seat, then you can click to bring the seat to the table.
Other common drafting features include text, dimensions, equations, and dimensions.
The second way to use AutoCAD is to use it to create a 3D model of a building or structure. This type of use of AutoCAD is commonly referred to as 3D modeling.
OpenSCAD and EAGLE
With the introduction of 3D modeling, CAD tools have been updated to be more user-friendly. Some of the more popular ones include FreeCAD and OpenSCAD. For more information about 3D modeling, check out our post, “How to create CAD models.”
While the primary use of OpenSCAD and EAGLE is to create a 3D model, it is possible to use them as traditional CAD apps, such as creating a model
One of the major benefits to using ObjectARX is the ability to use native ObjectARX programming features, as well as the ability to use.NET programming techniques. There are also important ObjectARX-related security aspects.
Autodesk Exchange Apps
The first AutoCAD plug-ins and add-on applications appeared on AutoCAD Exchange in 2006. Exchange Apps for AutoCAD 2011 and AutoCAD 2012 were available for download in AutoCAD’s application store, AutoCAD Exchange.
In AutoCAD Exchange there are Exchange Apps for AutoCAD 2011, AutoCAD 2012, AutoCAD 2013, and AutoCAD LT.
AutoCAD LT is part of the same licensing structure as AutoCAD and is not a separate product with its own licensing fees and/or subscription structure. It supports all the features and updates of AutoCAD (up to the current AutoCAD 2011). It does not include a lot of other extras, such as version history, etc.
Most organizations have a mix of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT users. For instance, a construction site may have one or two construction managers and dozens of local design consultants who can view the same files from both AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT. In this case, each of the design consultants needs to buy a license for AutoCAD LT to make changes to AutoCAD LT files.
Special License and maintenance
AutoCAD 2014 also introduced a special version of AutoCAD called AutoCAD Architect 2014. This is a special version designed to meet the needs of architecture and construction professionals. It features architecture-specific tools and enhancements. The main difference is the ability to create and place arch elements and sections, as well as related symbols. The standard license for AutoCAD Architect 2014 allows only four users, and provides limited support. As AutoCAD does not include a lot of extras, it is not a good choice for large companies and businesses.
As with all version upgrades for AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architect 2014 users can also upgrade their existing installations to AutoCAD Architect 2014.
Desktop and mobile versions
With the release of AutoCAD 2014, AutoCAD LT users are no longer required to have a Windows version to run AutoCAD LT files. AutoCAD LT is now available for both Windows and Macintosh. It runs under both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows operating systems
Open Autodesk Autocad and then select “License Manager” from “File” menu.
A dialog box will appear. Select the “Kernel” tab.
In the left side pane, click “Install Now” and then “OK”.
Now you have installed the kernel.
Behind the Passport (Image: Sercan Ozdemir/iStockphoto)
It is a commonly held misconception that Russians are not permitted to have passports. While there is a law requiring Russians to carry a travel document, it is not generally enforced. Yet even as Russian citizens have become increasingly reliant on their passports, the rule has been quietly lifted.
In 2008 the Interior Ministry quietly issued a regulation to allow citizens who had been out of the country for more than three years to regain their Russian passport without having to return to the Russian embassy to apply for one. Russian citizens do not need visas to enter the United States, Canada or most other countries, and the loss of passport is normally a relatively trivial matter. But while the Interior Ministry issued the regulation, the Foreign Ministry opposed it.
At the time, the ministry cited concerns that would-be Russian emigrants might travel to countries other than Russia and then use the passports that would have allowed them to return to Russia to avoid prosecution in Russia. The ministry also said that the rule would be contrary to the international treaties governing Russian citizenship, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
In the wake of the 2008 crisis, when the government introduced the passport law, it also included provisions allowing for the revocation of passports. Some commentators argued that this was a way of preventing the passport law from being used as a tool to target political opponents.
In June 2009 the two ministries announced that Russian citizens had the right to get passports even if they had been out of the country for more than three years. But rather than take this as a sign of the government’s confidence in its own position, many commentators saw it as a sinister attempt to raise the bar of proof for criminal charges against those who might have fallen foul of the law.
The European Union and the United States have also issued their own regulations on the ability of their citizens to obtain passports.
In 2012, the Russian ministry issued a statement saying that passports would not be required for citizens of countries in the Eastern Partnership, a group of six former Soviet countries that have closer relations with Russia
